Upload files to your digital signage

Supported file formats

Video

  • MP4, WebM, OGG, MOV, AVI, MKV, FLV
  • Maximum file size: 2 GB
  • Recommended resolution: 1920x1080 (Full HD) or higher
  • Supported codecs: H.264, VP9, Theora

Images

  • JPG, PNG, GIF, WebP, SVG
  • Maximum file size: 100 MB
  • Recommended resolution: 1920x1080 or higher
  • PNG supports transparency
  • GIF supports animation

Documents

  • PDF
  • Maximum file size: 50 MB
  • PowerPoint presentations (PPTX, PPT)

Audio (optional)

  • MP3, WAV, OGG, M4A
  • Maximum file size: 50 MB

Upload files

Method 1: Upload directly

  1. Go to Content in the sidebar
  2. Click on Upload
  3. Select the files you want to upload (you can select multiple files)
  4. Click Open or Upload
  5. The files will be uploaded to your media library

Method 2: Drag and drop

  1. Go to Content in the sidebar
  2. Drag files from your computer into the Content area
  3. Drop the files to upload
  4. The files will be uploaded automatically

Method 3: Upload to a folder

  1. Go to Content in the sidebar
  2. Open the folder where you want to upload
  3. Click Upload or drag and drop files
  4. The files will be uploaded to that folder

Upload progress

  • Small files (< 10 MB) upload almost instantly
  • Large files may take several minutes
  • You can continue using Screenbird while files upload
  • The upload progress will appear in a notification

After upload

  1. Your files appear in the Content library
  2. You can edit file properties (name, description)
  3. Add files to playlists
  4. Assign files to screens or schedules

Organize uploaded files

Create folders

  1. Click on New folder
  2. Enter a folder name
  3. Click Create

Move files to folders

  1. Select a file
  2. Right-click and choose Move
  3. Select the destination folder
  4. Click Move

Rename files

  1. Right-click on a file
  2. Click Rename
  3. Enter the new name
  4. Click Save

Delete files

  1. Right-click on a file
  2. Click Delete
  3. Confirm the deletion

Edit file properties

  1. Click on a file to select it
  2. Click on Edit or Properties
  3. Edit the details:

- Name: File name

- Description: Optional description

- Tags: Add keywords for searching

- Thumbnail: Upload a custom thumbnail

  1. Click Save

Storage quota

  • Your account has a maximum storage limit (depends on your subscription plan)
  • Check your remaining storage in Settings > Storage
  • Delete unused files to free up space
  • Upgrade your plan if you need more storage

Video optimization

For best playback performance:

  1. Use H.264 video codec
  2. Use AAC audio codec
  3. Keep bitrate below 25 Mbps
  4. Use 1920x1080 resolution or higher
  5. Use MP4 container format

Troubleshooting

Upload fails or file is rejected

  • Check file format is supported
  • Verify file size is within limits
  • Check internet connection
  • Try uploading again

File takes too long to upload

  • Large files may take time (2 GB file could take 15-30 minutes)
  • Check internet connection speed
  • Compress video or reduce resolution
  • Contact support if upload is stuck

Content won't play on screen

  • Verify the file format is supported
  • Check if the file is corrupted
  • Try re-uploading the file
  • Test with a different file format

Video stutters or freezes

  • Reduce video bitrate
  • Lower resolution
  • Increase display device capability
  • Check internet connection stability

Tips

  • Use descriptive file names for easy searching
  • Create a folder structure that matches your workflow
  • Test videos on your actual screen before scheduling
  • Keep high-resolution backup files
  • Use consistent video resolution across all content
  • Compress videos to reduce file size and bandwidth
  • Archive old files to save storage space
