Text effects and prices in the Designer

Select a text in the Designer and its options appear in the properties panel on the right, below font, size and color.

Letter fill

Under Letter fill, fill the letters with a gradient or with a Photo. This works best for a short heading in large letters.

Effects

Under Effect, give a text its own style: Hard (a sharp shadow), Block (a solid edge, like 3D letters), Glow, or Lift (a soft shadow, as if the text floats).

Prices and numbers

Under Numbers:

Tabular figures: all digits get the same width, so prices in a list line up neatly.
Small decimals: shows the decimals small and raised, as on a price tag.
Dots or Line: fills the rest of the text box with dots or a line, as on a menu. Put the name of a dish in a text box with dots, and the price right next to it.

Curved text

With Curve you bend a line of text up or down, for example along a round badge.

Text that fits its box

A text box has three modes: Fixed text box, Box grows with the text and Shrink text to fit. In the last mode a long text gets smaller so that it stays inside its box, and words are never split.

Tip

Effects draw the eye, so use them sparingly: on the heading, not on every text. That way everything stays easy to read from a distance.
