How to make a digital notice board
Last updated July 13, 2026
A digital notice board is a screen that shows a message you can update from anywhere, instead of a printed sign or a whiteboard someone has to walk over to change. For a board that needs to stay up all day without anyone tending it, digital signage software is the reliable way to run one: it keeps the message on screen, and on a dedicated player like Amazon's Signage Stick, the screen comes back on its own after a reboot.
With Screenbird, for example, you type a title and a message, set the font and colors, and push it to any paired screen. Once your screen is paired, the whole setup takes about two minutes.
The end result, live on your TV.
What you need
- A TV or monitor with an HDMI input
- A media player: Amazon's Signage Stick and the Fire TV Stick 4K are the simplest plug-and-play options; smart TVs and Windows, Mac, or Linux devices work just as well
- A Screenbird account (free trial, then EUR 15 per screen per month)
- The title and message you want to show, nothing else to prepare
Do you even need a screen for this?
A notice board doesn't have to be a screen. Paper and whiteboards work, but they hit the same wall once more than one person needs to keep it current:
A printed sign or poster looks fine on day one, but someone has to notice it's outdated, reprint it, and walk over to swap it.
A whiteboard or corkboard needs a marker or a pin close by, and only shows what fits in that one spot, nothing more once it's full.
A shared doc or group chat reaches people who already check it, but says nothing to someone just walking past.
A screen fixes the update problem: change the text once, from anywhere, and it shows up right away. Digital signage software is what makes that screen reliable enough to leave running all day without anyone touching it. That is the route in the steps below.
Step-by-step with Screenbird
For the full click-by-click walkthrough, see the Screenbird Knowledge Base.
Create your free account
Sign up for Screenbird in your browser. No installs needed on your computer, and the trial starts right away.
Pair your screen
Install the Screenbird player on your TV or stick. It shows a 6-character pairing code. Enter that code in your dashboard to connect the screen.
Add the Notice Board app
In My files, click New and choose New app. Then pick Notice Board from the app browser.
Write your message
Type a title and your message, then set the font, alignment, and colors.
Check the live preview
The setup form shows a live preview of exactly how the title and message will look on screen. Adjust anything, then save.
Send it to your screen
Click push, choose the screen, and your notice appears within seconds. Edit the text and push again any time you need to update it.
The result
Your notice board is now live. Anyone who needs to update it can edit the text and push it again, without anyone touching the screen itself.
