Info apps: weather, clock, news, tickers, and more

You add info apps to a screen as standalone content, just like an image or a video. Add them from the app library in Files, see Adding apps. The info apps are Weather, Clock, World Clock, Countdown, Stopwatch, News, RSS, MRSS, Notice Board, Ticker, Stock Ticker, Exchange Rates, and Crypto Prices. Below you will find the settings available for each app.

Weather and clocks

Weather

  • Location: search for a city or location. Required.
  • Unit: Celsius or Fahrenheit.
  • Display mode: Normal, Compact, Detailed, Dashboard, or Ticker.
  • Background: Gradient, Atmospheric image, or Custom image. With the last one you also fill in Image.
  • Theme, Font, and Font size (px).
  • Under Advanced: Language and Refresh (min).

Clock

  • Style: Digital or Analog.
  • Show: 24-hour format, Seconds, and Show date.
  • Date size: Small, Normal, or Large.
  • Theme and Font.

The clock has no time zone setting: it automatically follows the time zone of the screen it runs on.

World Clock

  • Time zones: add several time zones, each with its own label. Required.
  • Style: Digital or Analog.
  • Number of columns: Automatic, 1, 2, 3, or 4.
  • Show: 24-hour format and Seconds.
  • Theme and Font.

Countdown

  • End date: the date and time to count down to. Required.
  • Title and Done message: the text above the counter and the text shown once it reaches zero.
  • Style: Basic, Flip board, or Odometer.
  • Image, Theme, Font, and Font size (px).

Stopwatch

  • Title.
  • Direction: Up or Down.
  • Duration (sec): the length in seconds.
  • Milliseconds.
  • Theme and Font.

News and feeds

News

Screenbird carries 59 news sources across 26 countries, among them BBC News and Al Jazeera English. The list is filtered automatically by your company's country. Dutch examples are NOS, NOS Sport, NU.nl, and RTL Nieuws.

  • Source: pick a news source. Required.
  • Display mode: Default, Spotlight, Compact, or Ticker.
  • Max items: 1 to 50, 10 by default.
  • Show date and Date format (Relative, Short, or Long).
  • Rotation (sec): seconds per headline, 3 at the lowest, 10 by default.
  • Refresh (min): 5 minutes by default, anywhere from 1 to 60.

RSS

  • Feed URL: the URL of your own RSS or XML feed. Required.
  • Display mode: Default, Spotlight, Compact, or Ticker.
  • Max items: 0 to 100, where 0 means no limit.
  • Max age: No limit, 1 hour, 6 hours, 12 hours, 24 hours, 2 days, or 7 days.
  • Only with Ticker: Speed (Slow, Normal, or Fast) and Separator (● Dot, /// Slashes, | Pipe, - Dash, ◆ Diamond, or ★ Star).
  • Rotation (sec) and Refresh (min).

MRSS

For media-rich feeds with images and video.

  • Feed URL: a Media RSS XML feed. Required.
  • Max items: 1 to 50, 10 by default.
  • Show caption.
  • Transition: Fade, Slide, or None, with Transition speed (ms) from 100 to 3000.
  • Rotation (sec) and Refresh (min).

Text on screen

Notice Board

A fixed message board with a heading and a message.

  • Title: optional heading.
  • Text: the message. Required.
  • Alignment: Left, Center, or Right.
  • Theme, Background color, Text color, Font, and Font size (px).

Ticker

Text that scrolls sideways, for example as a bar along the bottom of a split screen.

  • Text: the scrolling text. Required.
  • Speed: Slow, Normal, or Fast.
  • Separator: ● Dot, /// Slashes, | Pipe, - Dash, ◆ Diamond, ★ Star, or Custom.... With Custom... you type a character of your own under Custom separator.
  • Spacing: Compact, Normal, Wide, or Extra wide.
  • Theme, Font, and Font size (px).

Financial tickers

All three tickers refresh their rates on Refresh (min): every 5 minutes by default, adjustable from 1 to 60 minutes.

Stock Ticker

  • Symbols: the stock symbols you want to show. Required.
  • Display mode: Ticker, List, or Grid.
  • Show change and Show percentage.

Exchange Rates

  • Base currency: the currency you convert from. Required.
  • Target currencies: the currencies you show alongside it. Required.
  • Display mode: Ticker or List.

Crypto Prices

  • Coins: the coins you want to show, separated by commas. Required.
  • Currency: EUR, USD, or GBP.
  • Display mode: Ticker or List.
  • Mini chart.
