Show Power BI on your screen

You add Power BI through Files > New > New app and pick Power BI there. Click Continue with Microsoft, give Screenbird permission to read your Power BI data, and then select the workspace and the report or dashboard. Finish by clicking Save.

Step 1: connect

  1. Go to Files > New > New app.
  2. Search for Power BI and click it.
  3. Click Continue with Microsoft and sign in with your Microsoft account.
  4. Give permission to read your Power BI data.

Only have a public link to a dashboard? Then choose Or use a public link → and paste the web address. Only addresses on Microsoft domains such as powerbi.com are accepted.

Step 2: pick a report or dashboard

  1. Under Type, choose whether you want to show a Report or a Dashboard.
  2. Under Workspace, pick the workspace. Leave it on My Workspace for your personal reports.
  3. Under Report ID or Dashboard, select the content you want.

Paginated reports sit in the same list, with (Paginated) after the name. You select them just like regular reports.

Step 3: set up the display

For a report, choose under Display:

  • Slideshow: the report cycles through its pages. Under Page rotation (sec), set how long a page stays up, from 10 to 300 seconds. Leave it empty and the pages don't change. Under Pages, uncheck the pages you want to skip.
  • Single page: under Page, pick the one page that gets shown.

With Background color you set the background behind the report.

Refreshing the data

Under Data refresh (min), set how often the data is fetched again. The default is 15 minutes, adjustable from 1 to 60 minutes.

Common problems

A message about a missing Power BI license

If you see the message "Your Microsoft organization does not have a Power BI license. Ask your IT administrator to enable Power BI in Microsoft 365." while connecting, your Microsoft 365 environment doesn't include Power BI. Your IT administrator enables it in Microsoft 365.

No reports or dashboards in the list

Check that you picked the right workspace and that your Microsoft account has access to the report or dashboard. Personal reports sit under My Workspace.

The connection stopped working

Go to Settings > Connections and click Reconnect next to Microsoft, or click Continue with Microsoft again in the app settings.
