Organize content in folders

You create a folder in Files: click New and choose New folder. To move files and folders, drag them onto a folder, or use Move in the right-click menu.

Create a folder

1. Go to Files in the sidebar.
2. Click New and choose New folder.
3. Enter a name under Folder name.
4. Click Save.

The folder is created inside the folder you are in at that moment. For a subfolder, open the folder first and create a new folder in there. The top level is called My files.

Move items

By dragging:

1. Drag the file or folder onto the folder you want it in.
2. The target folder lights up as soon as you hover over it. Let go to move the item.

Through the menu:

1. Right-click the item, or click the three dots on its tile.
2. Choose Move.
3. Pick the target folder in Move. If the folder you picked has no subfolders, you see No subfolders. A folder cannot go inside itself.
4. Click Move.

Use Select to select several items and move them all at once.

Rename or delete a folder

• Rename: right-click the folder, choose Rename, enter the new name and click Save.
• Delete: right-click the folder and choose Delete.

Let the assistant tidy up

Lots of loose files mixed together? If the assistant is switched on for your account, ask it something like: "Put the food in the Menu folder and the Christmas files in a new folder called Christmas." The assistant first shows a proposal with the files that go into each folder. Only when you confirm does it create the new folders and move the files.

The assistant tidies the folder you have open. If no folder is open, it tidies My files. Name another folder and it tidies that one instead. Only loose files move, into an existing folder inside it or into a new one; existing folders stay as they are. It handles up to 200 files at a time.

Find something quickly

To search the dashboard, use the magnifying glass, Cmd/Ctrl+K or the "/" key. Within Files you can also sort the view by name or by date.
