Send content to a screen

Send content to a screen

  1. Go to Files in the sidebar.
  2. Click on the item you want to display (image, video, app, or design).
  3. Click on Send to screen.
  4. Select one or more screens from the list.
  5. Choose Permanent or Temporary at the top of the window (see below).
  6. Click on Send.

The content appears on the selected screens within a few seconds.

Permanent vs. temporary

At the top of the send window you choose how long the content stays on screen.

  • Permanent - The content replaces the regular schedule on this screen until you remove it or send something else. Use this for content that should stay until further notice.
  • Temporary - The content is shown for a limited time (for example two hours, until 5 PM, or until midnight). When the time is up, the screen automatically returns to its regular schedule. Use this for announcements, events, or short campaigns.

Sending a new permanent push automatically cancels any active temporary push on the same screen.

For details on how temporary pushes work, see Temporary content pushes.

Choose how content fits the screen

In the send window you can choose how the content fits the screen:

  • Cover - fills the entire screen, may crop the edges
  • Contain - shows the entire content with black bars if needed
  • Stretch - stretches the content to fill the screen
  • Original - shows the content at its original size

For images and videos with empty space (pillarbox or letterbox), the screen background colour is used. You can change this colour in Screen settings.

Send a playlist to a screen

The same flow works for playlists. Open Playlists, choose the playlist you want to send, and click Send to screen. See Send a playlist to a screen for the full guide.

Remove content from a screen

  1. Go to Screens and click on the screen.
  2. You see what is currently playing.
  3. Click on Remove next to the item to take it off the screen.

The screen returns to its regular schedule.

Troubleshooting

The content does not appear on the screen

  • Check that the player is online (green dot in the screens overview).
  • Check the internet connection of the player device.
  • Refresh the player by restarting the device or sending the screen a restart command.

The wrong content keeps showing

  • A temporary push may still be active. Open the screen and check if there is an active temporary push you can cancel.
  • The regular schedule may be playing different content based on the time of day.
