Sending a playlist to a screen

You send a playlist to a screen from Playlists: right-click the playlist, choose Send to screen, select the screens, and click Send. The playlist starts playing within a few seconds. If you change the playlist later, those changes go out to every screen it is running on.

Step by step

1. Go to Playlists in the sidebar.
2. Right-click the playlist and choose Send to screen. If the playlist is already open, right-click an empty spot in the list and choose the same option.
3. At the top of the window, choose Permanent or Temporary.
4. Check one or more screens. Use Select all screens to select them all at once.
5. Click Send.

To see what will go up before you send it, click Preview in the same window.

Permanent or temporary

• Permanent: the playlist stays on the screen until you stop it or send something else.
• Temporary: the playlist plays until an end time you set under End time. That defaults to an hour from now, and there are buttons for 5 min, 15 min, 1 hour, 8 hours, 1 day, and 1 week. You can also enter any date and time you like.

You can only send temporarily to screens that are online; for an offline screen you get the message A temporary send only works on screens that are online. A permanent send to an offline screen stays queued: Will be delivered as soon as the screen reconnects.

Selecting several screens

You can send the same playlist to several screens at once. If your screens are organized into folders, use the Search screens field at the top of the list; it searches across all folders at once, including sub-screen names.

Screens with a lock icon are locked and cannot be checked. Unlock them first, see Locking a screen to its content.

Changes follow on their own

If you add items, remove items, or change the order, those changes go out to every screen the playlist is running on. You don't have to send the list again. The same goes for the playlist settings, such as the duration per item and the transitions, see Playlist settings.

Frequently asked questions

Where do I choose how the content fits the screen?

Not in this window. A playlist has one scale for the whole list, which you set in the playlist settings window, see Playlist settings. The scale option in the send window only appears when you send a single file.

How do I take the playlist off the screen again?

Open the screen under Screens. Under Current content, stop what is running with Stop content; to cancel a temporary send, use Cancel temporary content under Temporary.
