Screen sharing

With Screen sharing you share your laptop or desktop screen live to a Screenbird screen. Everything happens in the browser, there's nothing to install. The picture goes directly from your laptop to the screen.

There are two ways to get started.

Method 1: share directly from the dashboard

Handy if you're already in the dashboard.

  1. Go to Screens in the sidebar.
  2. Click the screen you want to share to, to open Edit Screen.
  3. Expand Display Control.
  4. Click Share to this screen.
  5. Click Share screen to confirm.
  6. A new tab opens on your laptop. Click Share screen there and choose which screen, window or tab you want to show.
  7. As soon as you make a choice, your laptop appears live on the screen.

To stop, use the Stop button on your laptop. The screen returns immediately to its normal content.

Method 2: add the Screen Mirror app to a screen

Handy if you use screen sharing on the same screen often, or want to have it set up in advance.

  1. Go to Files in the sidebar.
  2. Click New and choose New app.
  3. Find the Screen Mirror app and click Save.
  4. Send the app to the screen you want using Push to screen.
  5. The screen now shows a web address (mirror.screenbird.app) and a 6-character code.
  6. On your laptop, go to that web address, enter the code and click Connect.
  7. Click Share screen and choose what you want to show.

What you need

  • A laptop or desktop computer. A phone or tablet can't share its screen.
  • Chrome, Edge, Firefox or Safari.
  • No installation, everything runs in the browser.
  • Sending audio along only works in Chrome or Edge on Windows.

If the connection doesn't work

Some networks don't allow a direct connection between devices, for example guest Wi-Fi or a corporate firewall. Having trouble sharing? Contact your network administrator.

Limits

  • A session lasts a maximum of 12 hours.
  • You can share to a maximum of 5 screens at the same time.

Is it secure?

Yes. Only someone with dashboard access and edit permission on the screen can start a share. The share link this uses is secured.
