Use the AI Assistant

The AI Assistant is built into your dashboard. Type what you need in your own words: it answers questions about Screenbird and about your own screens, and it can do the work for you, such as pairing a screen, putting content on it, building a playlist or making a design. Every change first appears as a card that shows exactly what will happen. Nothing changes until you click the button on that card.

Open the assistant

  • On a computer, click the round button at the bottom right of the dashboard. When you point at it, it shows AI Assistant. The assistant opens as a panel on the right; drag its left edge to make it wider.
  • You can also click Help at the bottom of the menu on the left to open the assistant.
  • In the search window (Ctrl+K or Cmd+K), type your question and choose Ask the assistant.
  • On a phone, tap the assistant button in the bar at the bottom. The assistant opens as a full page.

What you can ask

Questions, for example:

  • How something works in Screenbird.
  • Which screens are online, what is playing where, or what is in a playlist or schedule.
  • Which device works with Screenbird.

Tasks, for example:

  • Pair a screen, restart it, or turn it on or off.
  • Put content on a screen, permanently or until a date and time.
  • Create and change playlists and schedules.
  • Add apps, organize files into folders, or rename, move and delete items.
  • Make a new design from a description, or change the design you have open in the Designer. See Designs below.

Confirm or cancel

Each change shows up as a card with the details: which screen, which content, which name. Click the confirm button on the card to carry it out, or click Cancel to drop it.

  • One card can hold up to 4 steps, for example create a playlist, add three files and put it on a screen. Click Run all steps to carry out the steps one by one. If a step fails, the card shows where it stopped.
  • Deleted items go to the trash, where you can restore them for 30 days.
  • The assistant works with your own permissions, so it can never do more than your role allows.
  • It only acts when you ask. It does not make changes on its own.

Attach photos and videos

Click Attach file or drag files onto the panel. You can add up to 10 images or videos per message; PDFs go through Files. The files are saved in Files as soon as you send the message: in the folder you have open, or in the folder you name. Then ask, for example, to put them on a screen or in a playlist.

Designs

Describe what should be on the screen, for example "a lunch menu with three sandwiches and their prices" or "a promotion for our new sneakers". The assistant makes three designs, each with its own layout and a photo that fits the subject. Pick one on the Pick a design card: it is saved in Files and opens in the Designer.

If you would rather start from a template, ask for one, for example "a happy hour template". The assistant suggests a fitting template on a card; confirm it and the template opens in the Designer, ready for your own texts and photos. See Find a template.

With a design open in the Designer, ask for changes in your own words: other texts or prices, other colors or fonts, a different layout, another photo, or one element more or less. You can also ask for another format, for example portrait instead of landscape. The assistant then rearranges the content to fit.

  • A change is saved right away and appears on a Design updated card. Click Undo on that card to go back.
  • Every saved change reaches the screens that show the design within a few seconds. To try things out first, work in a copy.
  • Text you did not give, such as a price or an address, appears as a placeholder between square brackets, for example [price]. Replace it with your own text.
  • The assistant uses your brand colors and fonts when you have set them. If your brand is not set yet, it offers to do that first: give it the address of your website and it picks up your colors, fonts and logo. They appear on a Set up brand card. Click Apply to save them, or carry on without. See Company details and brand settings.
  • Designs and photos count toward the monthly usage limit of the assistant.

Language

The assistant answers in the language you write in, in all 15 languages of the dashboard.

What the assistant does not do

  • Change your subscription, number of screens or payment details: use Settings > Subscription.
  • Invite team members or change roles: use Teams.
  • Connect a Google, Microsoft or social media account: use Settings > Connections.

In these cases the assistant tells you where to go and can open the page for you. It can make mistakes, so check important information.

Something went wrong

  • You deleted the wrong item: ask the assistant to restore it, or restore it yourself on the Trash page. Items stay there for 30 days.
  • Temporary content is still on a screen: ask the assistant to stop it. The previous content then returns.
  • The wrong content is on a screen: ask the assistant to put the right content on it, or send it to the screen yourself.
  • An answer is wrong or does not help: click Not helpful under the answer. That helps us improve the assistant.

Conversations

  • The New chat button starts an empty conversation.
  • Click the Previous chats button to see earlier conversations.

Contact support through the assistant

If the assistant cannot help you, or you ask to talk to a person, it prepares a message to support on a Send to support card. Click Send to send it. Your message goes to support together with the recent conversation and your account details, so you don't have to explain everything again. Support replies by email within one business day.

Limits

Each account has a monthly usage limit for the assistant. When you reach it, the assistant tells you so; email support@screenbird.app to have it raised.

Privacy

Your conversations are stored with your account. Our support team may read them to help you and to improve the assistant. The assistant is not trained on your data. You can read more in our privacy statement.
