Use Screenbird in Claude and ChatGPT

You can connect Screenbird to Claude, ChatGPT and other AI apps that support connectors (MCP). After that you ask in your own words, for example "Which screens are offline?" or "Show the lunch menu on the screen in the canteen", and the AI app does the work in your Screenbird account. You sign in once and choose which team the app may use.

What you need

  • An AI app that supports connectors with sign-in, such as Claude or ChatGPT.
  • A Screenbird account with an active subscription.
  • A role that may change Connections in the team you connect. The account owner always can.

Connect in Claude

  1. In Claude, open Settings and then Connectors, and choose Add custom connector.
  2. Enter the name Screenbird and the address https://mcp.screenbird.app/mcp.
  3. Under Authentication, choose Sign in when needed, and add the connector.
  4. Ask Claude something about your screens. Claude shows a Connect button: click it.
  5. Sign in to Screenbird, choose the team, check what the app may do and click Allow.

Back in Claude, your question continues on its own.

Connect in ChatGPT

In ChatGPT, open Settings and then Apps, and add Screenbird with the address https://mcp.screenbird.app/mcp. Adding an app by its address needs developer mode in ChatGPT. When ChatGPT asks you to connect, sign in to Screenbird, choose the team and click Allow.

Other AI apps

Any AI app that supports MCP connectors over HTTPS with sign-in (OAuth) works with the same address: https://mcp.screenbird.app/mcp.

What the AI app can do

Without signing in, the AI app can already:

  • Search the Screenbird help center.
  • Give the steps to install the player on a device.
  • Check whether a device works with Screenbird.

After you connect, and only within the team you chose, it can:

  • See your screens, whether they are online and what they show.
  • Find your files, designs and apps.
  • Show content on a screen or sub-screen, permanently or until a time you set, and put a screen back to its normal content.
  • Make a new design from a description. This counts toward the AI budget of your account, with at most 20 designs per hour.

The AI app cannot delete anything, change playlists or schedules, pair screens or see your billing. Claude and ChatGPT usually ask you to confirm before they change what a screen shows.

Your data

Screenbird does not see your conversation. The AI app only calls Screenbird for what it needs, and what Screenbird sends back, such as the names of your screens and files, goes to that AI app. The provider of the AI app handles it under its own terms.

When an app is connected to your account, you receive an email.

See or disconnect connected apps

Go to Settings and then Connections. Under Connected apps you see each app with its team and when it was last used. Click Disconnect to take away its access: the app stops working right away.

A connection ends by itself after 30 days without use, and after 180 days at the latest. Then you connect again from the AI app.

Something does not work

  • "Connecting an app needs an active Screenbird subscription": the account has no active subscription.
  • "Your role does not allow connecting apps": ask the account owner for a role that may change Connections.
  • "This link has expired": start connecting again from the AI app.
  • Claude never asks you to sign in: remove the connector and add it again with Sign in when needed.
